FAQ
Stump Grinding and Removal questions
Short answers about how the referral works and what to expect from a provider.
How does this work?
Send the form with a few details about your stump or stumps. We share your request with a local provider, who contacts you directly with availability and a quote.
Does it cost anything to ask?
No. Sending a request is free and there is no obligation to hire anyone.
How much does stump grinding cost?
It depends mostly on the stump's width, wood hardness, access and number of stumps. National cost guides put a single stump at roughly a hundred to a few hundred dollars, and large or hard-to-reach stumps can cost more. Quotes vary; a provider who sees the job gives the real number.
What is the difference between grinding and removal?
Grinding chips the stump down below ground and leaves the roots to rot, which is usually cheaper and quicker. Removal digs out the stump and large roots and leaves a hole to fill. A provider can tell you which fits your plans for the spot.
What happens to the wood chips?
They fill the hole where the stump was. Many providers will leave them for you to use as mulch or haul them away. Ask which is included in the quote.
Do I need to call 811 first?
Louisiana 811 asks for at least two business days of notice before digging so utilities can mark underground lines. Ask your provider who requests the locate.
Can I plant grass or a tree where the stump was?
Usually yes after grinding, once the hole is filled with soil. If you want a new tree in the exact same spot, ask the provider about grinding deeper or removing the stump fully.
Which areas are covered?
Lake Charles and nearby communities listed on the service area page. Providers confirm coverage for your exact location.
